It's Quiet Around Here
Monday, January 14, 2008
Now that the holiday season is over, it's mighty quiet in the travel business. I'd heard that the Fenimore Museum in Cooperstown are hosting "virtual vacations" for February (always a slow month from Upstate NY travel).
On select Saturdays this month and February, the Fenimore Art Museum, Highway 80, Lake Road, will offer a series of distance learning field trips to distant locales featuring subjects such as butterflies, rain forest birds and sea life.
These programs use Fenimore's videoconferencing technology to bring an interactive experience for children ages 5 to 12. Following each lesson, museum educators will work with participants on a hands-on activity based on the theme of the virtual visit.
Check out the Fenimore Art Museum for more information.
As for us, we probably won't be driving south. We're thinking of going to the Finger Lakes in the near future; more specifically, to a Seneca Lake winery. Now that will be fun! Also, we will be trekking toward Syracuse soon, so stay tuned.
