More on the Glass Museum
Thursday, January 24, 2008
I have all three parts of our visit to the Corning Museum of Glass now posted (Part 1 here, Part 2 here, and Part 3 here). It was such a wonderful time, and it was a great, educational experience for the kids. The Museum did a fine job of blending art, science, and history within the realm of glassmaking.
The kids and I have been investigating further into the process and art of glassmaking. It is a truly fascinating medium! We have been watching videos from the CMoG website. Check them out here. We've enjoyed them so much that I thought you might like to see them, too. We loved the one on Pate de Verre (Windows Media File), and were astounded at the marvelous work of art that one can create with glass!
The videos are usually about 3 minutes long, short enough for a child's attention span to hold. They are riveting videos, and very educational. Check them out with your school-age child, or enjoy them yourself.
