A Glimpse at Key West

Thursday, March 04, 2010

The most popular out-of-state destination for New Yorkers is, hands down, Florida. We even have a name for these people: snowbirds. They fly the coop before the heaviest (and most depressing) part of winter begins-- usually after Christmas-- and do not return until March or April.

I am SO JEALOUS! LOL!

I've been to Florida. It's beautiful by the ocean, especially along the Keys (those tiny islands long the southernmost tip of the Florida peninsula. The water is SO aquamarine, the sands so white. If it wasn't for the stifling heat and humidity, I'd be a snowbird, myself. There are a string of lovely Key West Beach Hotels along the Keys. Take the Southernmost Hotel in Key West-- they are a luxury resort, a "key" place (#1 destination, actually) for a luxurious and memorable Key West Beach Wedding, wow! They are just ONE BLOCK from the southernmost point in the continental United States!

The Southernmost Hotel in Key West has a terrific website. They have some information videos showcasing their glamorous hotel and the Key West Spa Resort. Rates are incredible-- off-season rates are $104-$194, currently! Here in New York, I pay around $100 for a stay in a simple motel....

Anyway, you can browse the website, look at photos, and videos, and check out their 360 degree virtual tour. It's nice! And if you ever decide to taste the snowbird life, Southernmost Hotel is waiting for you. My kids saw some of the videos, and looks like they are hooked! We'll have to try and squeeze a Florida trip into our itinerary sometime!
