Happy 75th Birthday, Fort Stanwix

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

By a wide margin, Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY, is our favorite national park. It is an incredible place to learn about our history. And Fort Stanwix is celebrating it's 75th year as a national park.

The folks who run Fort Stanwix are just incredible. We go every year, and every year they are friendly, talkative, and cheery; and it's a blast to share the past with them. I rave so much about the Fort, that I'd probably qualify in a best affiliate program for them, if they had one! I recommend this park as a prime tourist stop if you are visiting the Central Leatherstocking Region Central New York.

Fort Stanwix National Monument is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the park is free. Activities are ongoing unless noted. For more information about upcoming events please call the park at (315) 338-7730. Please visit the park’s web page at www.nps.gov/fost for additional information about the park and up-to-date news about park events.

For you genealogists out there, this is a great website about Fort Stanwix, by the Daughters of the American Revolution. And here is the city of Rome's page about the Fort.
