So You Wanna Move to New York, Huh?

Tuesday, October 05, 2010

Did you know that you do not need to be a resident of New York State to get married in New York?

Did you know that the income tax for anyone earning $0 to $800 a year is 4 PERCENT? If you earn more than $20,001 a year, expect to pay almost 7% income tax.

Did you know that New York State sales tax is 4%, but counties AND cities tack on additional sales tax? Here in Oneida County, total sales tax is almost 10%.

And did you know that the 14 most expensive/most taxed counties to live in the United States are in New York State?

If you are still bound and determined to join us here in New York State, see first. Billy is my pal, both on the web and Twitter. Billy is a savings club website, offering tons of tips, information, resources, and money-saving coupons. He has organized his very popular moving resources information into states.

Most of that information that I just quoted was taken from the New York State relocation services webpage at Billy has LOADS of information about general info you will need, even stuff on local New York City movers. He also has a list of recommended movers for every state. You can type in the information and get quotes-- AND possibly get up to 55% off your quote!

Definitely check out my pal Billy for everything you need to make informed choices and save some money while you're at it. Because if you are moving to New York, you're going to need as much money as possible, to pay for all those taxes. Good luck!

Arizonas sales tax is 6.6% plus counties and cities add their own. Plus most places here tax food. Typically we pay 10-12% sales tax on purchases in Maricopa county. Our income tax is a bit better, starts at 2.5% and goes to 4.5%.
